WHITE FLOWERS DAYLIGHT

We've been keeping track of Preston pair White Flowers' whimsical musings for a while here at TMR. Today, the duo have announced details of their debut album Day By Day, which will be released via tastemakers Tough Love Records on the 7th of May. The news comes alongside its lucid lead track 'Daylight' and if you ask us, it's their most accomplished to date. Whilst their reference points remain firmly rooted in the early 90s, 'Daylight' takes elements of shoegaze, trip-hop and dreampop and arranges them in such a way that feels modern and fresh. Dark, gothic undertones are elevated by soaring, ethereal vocals and glistening guitar work, with the occasional synthesizer flourish. Reflecting on their writing environment, Joey Cobb explains: "There’s something uniquely bleak about the North... but in that bleakness there’s a certain beauty.” Check out 'Daylight' here now. -Holly Mullineaux
